H-F High School baseball advances to super-sectionals

Jaden Sharp, a senior at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, is gearing up for an Ivy League education at Princeton University.

Sharp said Princeton was one of several choices, and he’s anxious to attend the highly competitive school because it will offer him “a high caliber education and it just seemed like a good fit.” He’s looking forward to his visit to the campus in New Jersey in April.

Sharp plans to major in electrical and computer engineering. He wants to prepare to use quantum engineering, a new specialty in engineering, that will help make improvements . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
