Happy retirement: Science teacher Ric Druse gave 33 years of service to Hart kids

Liam Nelson of Flossmoor, a student at the Illinois Math and Science Academy, has been named a National Merit finalist.

The designation puts Liam among the top 1% of high school seniors selected for the honor based on his 2020 PSAT/NMSQT exam taken as a junior. Judging for the finalist designation was based on Liam’s academic record, activities at school and in the community, leadership abilities and honors and awards.

He is now eligible for scholarships awarded through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Liam, 16, plans to major in aerospace engineering. He hasn’t made a college selection . . .
