CATHOLIC SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE - Take a look inside classrooms, hallways and common spaces at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic School in Flossmoor during an open house tonight. Parents and prospective students can go for a tour of the school, view a presentation by the principal, and learn about the school's curriculum and technology. 6 to 8 p.m.

WINTER ART WORKSHOP - Help kids express their creativity with a Winter Art Workshop from H-F Park District. During the three-hour class, children ages 6 to 11 will work on winter crafts, painting, drawing and sculpture. All skill levels welcome . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
