PREPARE FOR JUNETEENTH – The nonprofit organization You Matter 2 is planning an HF Juneteenth Festival, and the group’s leaders are encouraging local residents to get ready by signing up to volunteer and stocking up on gear. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

JUNETEENTH GEAR – Check out décor and apparel at the Juneteenth Pop-Up Shop from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community House at Flossmoor Community Church, 847 Hutchison Road, Flossmoor. Pre-order at www.youmatter2.org/popupshop.

BE A VOLUNTEER – People 16 and older can sign up to volunteer to work at the HF Juneteenth Festival on June 19 at H-F High School. The organization is seeking volunteers to work in parking, registration, sanitation, lost and found, at the stage, and as floaters. Sign up here: www.youmatter2.org/juneteenthvolunteer.
