H-F students win eight awards at journalism contest

The District 233 school board gave administrators raises and approved a contract for the incoming Homewood-Flossmoor High School principal at its regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The board approved a contract of $165,000 for Clinton Alexander, H-F’s next principal. His one-year contract starts July 1, although Alexander already has been visiting H-F and getting acquainted with staff. He is currently principal at Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
