State releases more than $4.2M in Rebuild Illinois funding to replace GSU HVAC systems

No people were injured in a home fire at 1320 Jamie Lane late Friday night, but two dogs were lost, according to Homewood Fire Chief Bob Grabowski.

The residents were not home at the time the fire broke out, he said. The call came in just before midnight and crews spent two hours at the scene.

Grabowski said the home was heavily damaged, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation . . .

  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
