Flossmoor elects Michelle Nelson its next mayor, first woman to take the helm

Will Pauling was shaking a little bit when he took his first snap as a freshman with the University of Cincinnati football. The Homewood-Flossmoor High School 2021 graduate was understandably nervous taking the field with a national championship contender.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
