April Food Day drive Saturdays in Homewood

In recognition of April Food Day 2021, the Homewood Science Center is serving as a drop-off site Saturdays, April 3 and April 10, for non-expired cans and boxes of food.

The drop-off time is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the science center’s location at 2018 Ridge Road in downtown Homewood.

The donations will be given to the Respond Now Food Pantry in Chicago Heights as part of the United Way South-Southwest Region’s April Food Day celebrated on April 12.  Donation suggestions are juices, rice and . . .

Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
