In recognition of April Food Day 2021, the Homewood Science Center is serving as a drop-off site Saturdays, April 3 and April 10, for non-expired cans and boxes of food.
The drop-off time is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the science center’s location at 2018 Ridge Road in downtown Homewood.
The donations will be given to the Respond Now Food Pantry in Chicago Heights as part of the United Way South-Southwest Region’s April Food Day celebrated on April 12. Donation suggestions are juices, rice and beans, canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, granola bars, cookies and crackers, canned meats and stews, peanut butter and jelly.
Respond Now is also accepting laundry detergent, infant supplies, including baby food, formula and diapers, and toiletries, such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and feminine products.
