FREE BRUSH COLLECTION - Flossmoor Public Works offers free brush collection during the first week of each month, beginning April 5. Set brush by the curb 7 a.m. Mondays, no earlier than three days prior to collection.

NEW FLOSSMOOR FIRE CHIEF - Earlier this month, longtime firefighter Robert Kopec was appointed to the position of fire chief of the Flossmoor Fire Department, beginning April 5.

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
