SHOP AND WIN - The Grow Flossmoor contest begins April 1. Shop at Flossmoor businesses and collect your receipts. At the end of the month, submit your total for a chance to win one of three prizes.

EGG DROP CHALLENGE - Kids in kindergarten to second grade can participate in an egg drop challenge. Use household items and STEM supplies provided by Homewood Library to create a contraption that will save an egg. Return to the library on April 15 for the parking lot drop. Register online and pick up on April 5.

Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
