COVID-19 numbers: March 28

Cook County officials announced on Monday, Nov. 29, the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a renewable energy purchase agreement.

The county is seeking to purchase a large portion of its electricity supply from a renewable source beginning in Fiscal Year 2023.

The move is part of the county’s goal of reaching 100% renewable electricity for county-owned facilities by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. Those goals are part of Cook County’s Clean Energy Plan (www.cookcountyil.gov/service/clean-energy-plan), which prioritizes actions that meet the urgency of climate change, promotes local jobs . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
