COVID-19 numbers: March 25

A woman suffered minor injuries Sunday night when she was struck by a vehicle while chasing her own vehicle as it was being driven off by a thief.

Police responded to the 18200 block of Halsted Street at about 9:50 p.m. The victim was seen by Homewood Fire Department paramedics for minor injuries from being struck by the vehicle and refused further treatment, police said.

Shots reportedly were fired during the incident, which began when the woman left her car running and unoccupied. Someone entered the vehicle and drove off. Police recovered shell casings at the scene but . . .

  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
