HBA announces its 2021 public art project: Hand-painted bird houses

DECK THE HALLS - Join Flossmoor Community Church as members celebrate the beginning of Advent and decorate the grounds for the Christmas season. They will be decorating our trees, hanging garland and wreaths, and illuminating the grounds. 11 a.m. Sunday

HOLIDAY IN FLOSSMOOR - Celebrate the start of the holiday season in Flossmoor on Saturday. Starting at 3 p.m., kids can visit with Santa Claus, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies at Flossmoor Library. Then at 5:30 p.m., follow Santa and a parade of carolers to Flossmoor Park for the annual tree lighting. Nightly lighting of the Hanukkah menorah . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
