More for its money: Flossmoor touts ‘fabulous rate,’ higher proceeds on bond sale

Flossmoor has a new events manager and a new approach to its holiday celebration this year, along with a renewed commitment to inclusion.

Stephanie Wright, on the job for a couple of months, has taken all the charming aspects of Winterfest, the village's annual early-December holiday festival and sprinkled them across a four-week period to create a season of celebration.

The fun will start on Nov. 27, which is also Small Business Saturday, an annual nationwide event to bring attention and sales to small, local businesses. The events that day will include the traditional appearance of Santa . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
