Staying well together: Medical needs get special attention at Johnson’s

Lots of goodies were handed out on Saturday, Oct. 30, as dozens of children, with parents and grandparents in tow, walked the Trick or Treat Trail at Millennium Park.

The event, hosted by the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, had organizations set up tables along the path to share information and Halloween treats. Some were in costume, such as the three Einstein impersonators at the Homewood Science Center table, and Miss Angela, storyteller extraordinaire at the Homewood Public Library, hiding in a hot dog costume. Others, including Flossmoor police and firefighters, were happy to share information and shake kids’ hands.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
