Homewood’s Zone Comics and the comic book industry find sales have improved during the pandemic

GO PUMPKIN HUNTING - Grab your electric torch and head out to the Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt on Saturday at Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center. Register online with H-F Park District for a hunt at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., or choose the daytime Pumpkin Hunt at 4:30 p.m. $10

GET RID OF OLD MEDS - The Village of Homewood reminds community members that they can bring old prescription medications for proper disposal to Homewood Police Department, where you'll find a disposal container year-round.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
