Starting at Friday night, traffic at the intersection of Vollmer Road and Crawford Avenue in Flossmoor was detoured as the Cook County Department of Transportation begins work on an emergency sewer repair.
The project is expected to take three to four weeks to complete.
During that time, westbound Vollmer Road traffic will be rerouted at the Governors Highway intersection. Traffic will flow southwest on Governors Highway to 203rd St., and then directed westbound to northbound Crawford Avenue, ending back at Vollmer Road traveling westbound.
Local westbound Vollmer Road traffic will be allowed to proceed as far as the Meier driveway. The BP gas station driveway will be inaccessible from westbound Vollmer Road but eastbound Vollmer Road traffic will still be able to use the BP gas station driveway.
