Homewood, Hazel Crest mayors spar over development negotiations

RECYCLEPALOOZA - Start collecting things from around the house to lug over to Recyclepalooza, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 in the parking lot of Parker Junior High School.

A variety of items are accepted, including TVs for $20 each, electronics, metals, ink/laser jets, bikes, pop can tabs, razors, sporting goods, American flags, used plastic gift cards, LEGOs, trophies, mascara wands, plastic bread tags, half- and one-gallon glass jars with lids, used oral care products and packaging.

Also bring items for donation, including gently used clothes, eyeglasses, new travel size toiletries, small household items, and . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
