D161 school board pushes decision on possible hybrid reopening to Feb. 1 meeting

After doing some preliminary work on Tuesday, the Cook County Sheriff's Department RENEW program crew brought in an excavator on Wednesday to start bringing down the building at 18225 Dixie Highway in Homewood. The former Bogart's Charhouse has been vacant for a number of years, and the village hopes razing the building will make the site more attractive to a developer. (Eric Crump/H-F Chronicle . . .

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
