Now a teacher at Parker, Shavonna Harris says the school was inclusive even when she was student

The Drama Group survived through a year of COVID and is ready to celebrate its 90th season of theater in the South Suburbs with a line-up of plays and musicals starting Oct. 1.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
