According to information supplied by the Homewood Police Department, the stolen black Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on 183rd Street around 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole on the north side of the street.

Occupants of the car ran away after the crash, police said. One juvenile passenger was located by police and arrested on a charge of criminal trespass to a vehicle.

No one was transported to the hospital as a result of the crash.

Homewood police said the owner of the Lexus reported it stolen to the Hazel Crest Police Department at some point on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The downed utility pole, which is just west of Dixie Highway, caused a relatively brief power outage in the area for most people affected, with ComEd reporting nearly 300 customers without service shortly after the incident. A handful of customers were without power until evening, according to ComEd.
