Homewood Arts Council issues call for art to include in online exhibit

Area artists will have an opportunity to show their work in a virtual gallery sponsored by the Homewood Arts Council. The council has announced a call for art, with entries due Sept. 1.

The council operated a gallery at 2023 Ridge Road in Homewood and hosted shows in 2018 and 2019. The gallery closed in March due to the pandemic. Then earlier this summer, the organization had to move out of the space. The storefront will be used by Metra as a field office . . .

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
