COVID-19 fallout challenges domestic violence victims, workers

Alex Stritar, 30, owner of Zone Comics & Games, said that despite setbacks, business has been stable and in some major ways has even improved during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At Zone, the wall is filled with new issues of Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Vampirella, Goosebumps and Archie. A local comic shop . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
