Jonathan Kriarakis, a graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School, was awarded a Western Golf Association Chick Evans Scholarship for golf caddies.
Kriarakis will attend Northwestern University in the fall. The scholarship will cover tuition and housing.
Kriarakis, of Flossmoor, caddied at Olympia Fields Country Club and was nominated by the members of the club for this award. His nomination was then forwarded to WGA directors, Evans Scholars alumni and program supporters for final selection based on his caddie record, excellent academics, financial need and outstanding character.
He was one of 285 caddies selected for the Evans Scholarship. The scholarship is funded mostly from contributions by 32,500 golfers across the country who are members of the Evans Scholars Par Club program.
The Evans Scholars program was founded in 1930 by famed Chicago amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr.
