Seven H-F graduates selected for local scholarships

The Homewood-Flossmoor Education Organization awarded seven scholarships to outstanding seniors who were recognized during the H-F Honors Convocation on May 21. The organization selected four students for the HFEO Future Teacher Award; two for the HFEO Service Award and one student for the HFEO Outstanding Senior Award.

The Homewood-Flossmoor Education Organization awarded seven scholarships to outstanding seniors who were recognized during the H-F Honors Convocation on May 21.

The organization selected four students for the HFEO Future Teacher Award; two for the HFEO Service Award and one student for the HFEO Outstanding Senior Award.

This is the fourth year HFEO, the teachers union at H-F High, has awarded scholarships. They are underwritten with donations from H-F teachers and instructional assistants and former H-F teachers. Each scholarship is for $525. 

Future Teacher honorees: Myah Garrett, attending Illinois State University; Carolina Zambrano, attending Northern Illinois University; Lauren Lucas, attending Illinois State University and Eric Piros, attending Boston University.

Service Award winners: Karli Thomas, attending Tennessee State University and Maya Harrell, attending Georgia Institute of Technology.

Outstanding Senior honoree Haley Sawyer will attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
