Coping with COVID: April 23

Record day for cases, testing. Illinois saw a record number of new COVID-19 cases from Tuesday to Wednesday, 2,049. Gov. J.B. Pritzker attributed the jump to a parallel increase in testing. He said the state conducted more than 9,000 tests during the same 24-hour period, also a record.


Local cases, deaths. Homewood’s cases increased by 6 to a total of 112 in the past day. There were no new deaths noted. The total remains at 10. Flossmoor saw one additional death, bringing its total to 6. Its cases remained at 50 total.
