Coping with COVID: April 21

James “Jim” Grossnickle passed away January 8, 2021. Jim, 73, was survived by his sister, Jan Grossnickle Griffin, her spouse Ray Griffin, their four children Michael “Calvin” Yehl, his wife Jolene, Christopher Yehl (Jim’s all around handyman), Kevin Yehl, his wife Erin, soon to be expecting Jim’s first grandnephew, or little “grand nibling ” as Jim called him (Jim also hoped for future great grand-babies), Jennifer “Elf” Yehl Mancera, her husband Norberto “Dragon” Mancera, Jim’s brother John “Jack” Grossnickle, his wife Gayle, their two children Jeff Grossnickle, his wife Danielle and Dan Grossnickle. Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
