Firm finds possible site for new Flossmoor water pumping station 

The Drama Group invites talented community members to appear in its virtual celebration of the Black experience for its Black History Month celebration.

Performers and musicians can perform stories, poetry-slam poetry, declamations, monologues or present original works, staying within an 8-minute time limit. 

Submissions will be accepted through Feb. 6.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
