On Tuesday, April 14, Cook County announced the distribution of thousands of personal protective equipment (PPE) to south suburban first responders.

“I am deeply grateful to our first responders and emergency workers who are on the frontlines of this crisis and selflessly devoting their expertise every day,” said Toni Preckwinkle, county board president. “We must ensure these emergency workers continue to have the resources and equipment needed to protect themselves while performing their duties.”

“While it takes a county to respond to the pandemic, our first responders are on the front lines of this battle,” said William Barnes, executive director of the Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security.
