County commissioner hosting virtual town hall meeting on COVID-19. Sixth District County Commissioner Donna Miller will host a town hall session at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, using Facebook Live. The public is invited to hear from three doctors who will provide information about COVID-19. Visit www.facebook.com/friendsfordonnamiller to participate.


IPO cancels Beethoven & Sibelius concert. Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra has canceled its May 16 “Beethoven & Sibelius” concert and all auditions scheduled for Monday, May 11, and Tuesday, May 12. Due to the popularity of canceled March, April and May concert programming, IPO is planning on presenting these concerts during a future IPO season. IPO’s office is closed until further notice, but phone calls to 708-481-7774 during 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. business hours are still being answered. 


New IDPH text service. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced a new text message program. People can text “COVID” to 312-500-3836 to register to receive current information and updates about COVID-19. IDPH is using 800-889-3931 as a telephone hotline to take health questions about COVID-19, or email questions to [email protected].
