Homewood to close village hall until April 1

Homewood village hall will be closed to the public from Monday, March 16, to Wednesday, April 1, in an effort to help slow the spread of the pandemic coronavirus.

Mayor Richard Hofeld said residents who wish to pay bills can use the drop box in front of the building at 2020 Chestnut Road.

Residents who have other business with the village or have questions should call or email the appropriate village official. Contact information can be found at homesweethomewood.com.

Hofeld said the move was intended to protect the health of village staff and residents.

The virus, which was first identified late last year, has spread rapidly around the world. The number of cases in Illinois jumped nearly 50 percent from Saturday to Sunday, going from 64 to 93.
