Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest is asking students in Homewood and Flossmoor to help name its new robot, the Davinci XI, that will be installed in its new Surgical Procedure Center.
Students can submit their suggestions by Thursday, March 19. Students can send the robot name, as well as the their name, phone number and home town via email to [email protected]. The winning name will be selected by hospital team members.
The contest winner will receive an Advocate Health care package and will be invited to attend the July 13 dedication ceremony for the hospital’s surgical center now under construction. The robot expands surgeons’ capabilities to perform minimally-invasive surgery for routine and complex procedures. The mechanical wrists of the robot mimic the movements of the surgeon’s wrist without natural hand tremors.
“Our goal is to inspire the next generation of medical professionals who will continue our commitment to the health and wellness of the Southland’s community,” said Dr. Raj Patel, a urologist and chairman of Advocate South Suburban’s Robotics Steering Committee.
