On the Homewood village board agenda for Tuesday’s meeting is an ordinance to amend the village's 3-cent local gas tax.
A new state law in 2019 authorized municipalities to collect their own fuel tax, but the Illinois legislature later made changes to the method of collecting the revenue, so the village's ordinance needs to be revised accordingly.
The board will also consider bids for the 2020 street resurfacing program, which uses state motor fuel tax funding.
