A full-service spa and salon will open in March at Flossmoor Commons shopping center.
Glow Salon & Spa will be ready for customers at the beginning of the month, said owner Gloria Ford. The business is located at 3319 Vollmer Road in Flossmoor.
Ford is moving her business from Hazel Crest, where it’s been located for the last eight years.
It’s a significant move, she said.
“We’re moving from 850 square feet to 5,200 square feet,” Ford said. “At the original location, we only had enough room to offer services as a hair salon. We’re looking forward to offering many more services in the new space.”
Glow Salon & Spa is moving into the location formerly occupied by Marc Alan Salon & Day Spa, which closed in February 2019. Ford said substantial work has been done at the business to get it ready for customers.
“We’ve had to do quite a lot,” she said.
Ford, who grew up in the South Suburbs, was asked why she made the decision to locate in Flossmoor.
“I’ve always loved this community,” she said. “When I saw that this space was available, I knew that it would fit in with my personal dreams and business plans.”
About 15 employees will be on staff at the new salon and spa, as opposed to the five staff members who worked at the Hazel Crest location, Ford said.
Besides hair stylists, Glow Salon & Spa will have barbers, braiders, makeup artists, lash technicians and workers performing spa services – massage, waxing, manicures, pedicures, nail extensions and more.
Ford said she is planning a grand opening in April.
“We’re reaching out to the mayor and other local officials so that they can be on hand,” she said.
