This summer 23 students from Homewood District 153 will attend the Illinois Summer Youth Music Camp on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
The district’s Parent Music Association is providing funding covering half of the tuition costs for the seventh graders. The association has been funding the scholarships since the early 1950s.
The James Hart School students will be among more than 1,000 students and 150 faculty and staff at the weeklong camp.

Band members: Grace Cairo, Parnell Hughes, Raena Kaminski, Benjamin Labno, Lorenzo Martinez, Marlee Trojan, Wesley Schmidt, Kennedy Walker, Arel Wiggins.
Choir members: Aubrie Camp, Gabe McKinney, Maya McNeil, Sommer Owens, Nick Piotrowski.
Orchestra members: Micaiah Abramczyk, William Belue, Veronica Hamaguchi, Jacob Harris, Marissa Harris, Briea Levant, Pedro Lugo, Lauren Lesimple, Hannah Saint-Victor.
