PSC Jazz Fest brings jazz greats together Feb. 21

The Homewood board approved a paving project for the parking lot at village hall that marks the official end of a townhome development once proposed for the property.

The one-acre area near Chestnut Road and Harwood Avenue was to be developed into 24 townhomes by 107 Highwood Holdings. That was first approved in 2018.

Village Manager Jim Marino said that development will not happen and the village is not seeking a new developer for the property.

The lot hasn’t been resurfaced since 1999. The village wants to resurface it before more . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
