The Homewood Science Center’s outstanding work in hands-on learning earned it recognition as a Top 100 Finalist in the 2020 Chicago Innovation Awards.

The honor in the Innovative Nonprofit category is for the Homewood Science Center’s PopUp [email protected] program. The center is now eligible for the Chicago Innovation Awards’ People’s Choice Award.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
