Repair work set for Irons Oaks, Irwin Center

The lines are long in Chicago for early voting, but Homewood and Flossmoor residents will have to wait until Monday, Oct. 19, for the start of early voting in suburban Cook County.

Voters will find locations open seven days a week between Oct. 19 and Nov. 2. The Cook County Board of Elections has designated Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights, as an early voting center.

Voters are not required to present identification, but a photo ID is helpful, should any questions arise about a voter’s registration, address or signature . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
