The first Skaterdays celebration skips skating but brings community together

Recent warm, wet weather confounded efforts to have a skating party for the first Skaterdays celebration Saturday night, but Flossmoor residents came together for a winter festival nevertheless, with food, music from the 1960s and games. Organizers were pleased with the result. More photos and more of the story to follow. (Eric Crump/H-F Chronicle)

Eric Crump started his first newspaper with his best friend when he was 9. It was four pages and folded after one issue. Possibly as many as two or three people read it. In 2014, about 46 years later, he started another paper, the H-F Chronicle, which is still going and has a few more readers.
