MOD Super Fast Pizza will soon open a new store in Homewood.

The village board approved a liquor license for the chain restaurant to be located at 17631 Halsted St., formerly Payless ShoeSource. According to village documents, the store will open this spring.

MOD was founded in 2008 in Seattle. The restaurant serves “fast casual, artisan-style” pizza, according to its website.

MOD has locations in New Lenox, Lockport, Evergreen Park and Highland, Indiana. It’s one of the fastest-growing brands in the industry with over 450 stores in the USA, United Kingdom and Canada.

The liquor license allows the restaurant to sell beer and wine. Alcohol can be no more than 25 percent of receipts and there will be no video gambling machines on the premises.

In other business, the board approved a resolution to use $700,000 in motor fuel tax funds to resurface roads throughout the village.

The largest resurfacing project will be 3,400 feet of 186th Place between Dixie Highway and Riegel Road. Portions of Delta Road, Hickory Road, Gottschalk Avenue, Olive Road, Page Court, Gladville Avenue, Riegel Oaks Lane, Cowing Court, Homewood Avenue, Highland Avenue, Marshfield Avenue and Page Avenue will also be improved.

Those projects will include pavement patching, curb repairs, drainage structure repairs and/or American Disability Act compliant sidewalk installation.
