Looking ahead: Cyclists and pedestrian unite, porch party planned

There’s still time to register in person to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 3 presidential election.

Local representatives from the League of Women Voters will be outside near the front entrance of Homewood-Flossmoor High School's North Building, 800 Governors Highway, on Monday, Sept. 21, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to register those who will be age 18 or older on or before Nov. 3.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
