Since late July, colorful barrels inscribed with inspirational messages have brightened the downtown Flossmoor and Flossmoor Commons shopping areas.
The six barrels on display are only the beginning of a bigger project that eventually will benefit the Flossmoor Public Art Commission.
The Barrels of Hope project was instigated late last year by Flossmoor resident Michelle Nelson, who heard that Flossmoor Station had a supply of unneeded barrels that had been used for aging its craft beers.
