Midnight might be past some bedtimes, so the village of Homewood will offer its annual family event to welcome the new year.
The Noon Year’s Eve celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road.
The event features live entertainment and snacks provided by White Castle. The centerpiece is a countdown and giant balloon-drop at the stroke of noon. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets are being handed out on a first come basis. Homewood residents have first priority. Free tickets can be picked up at village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road. Proof of residency will be verified upon receipt of tickets. Photo ID or current utility bill must be provided.
Because of the increased interest in Homewood’s event, remaining tickets will be available to non-residents beginning at 8 a.m. on Dec. 16.
