Adopted by the O’Shea family of Flossmoor
Although they already had a four-year-old terrier that the family had adopted, Elisha O’Shea said they thought he could use a playmate or a “canine companion.”
O’Shea had planned to go to an event coordinated with the SSHS and Coldwell Banker in Flossmoor to meet some dogs, but heavy rains and flooding in the area caused the event to be cancelled.
A realtor friend of O’Shea’s encouraged her to make a trip to the shelter with her family. They did and her 8-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter zeroed in on a Chihuahua mix that was about a year old.
“They’re in love with this new guy,” she said.
He had the name Andre when they adopted him and thought they’d keep the name. Her son liked Andre. But her daughter was partial to the name Dijon. They compromised and settled on Dijandre and then lengthened it to Colonel Dijondre Mustard, but they usually call him “The Colonel.”
