Local artist to host night of comedy Saturday to raise money for District 153 art programs

The District 233 school board hired two new administrators for Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

Jennifer Hester Schalk is the new director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development. Quitman Dillard is the new assistant principal for the North Building.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
