There’s one Homewood family that’s really into the season.
The Hughes house at 18145 Riegel Road in Homewood has covered the front yard with spooky friends, just to remind everyone that Thursday’s the day.

Our ghosts and ghouls will be out for the annual Halloween trick or treating. Hours are 3 to 7 p.m. in both Homewood and Flossmoor.
The Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a children’s Halloween party for pre-school through third graders who reside in the village. Sweet treats, games and other happenings are scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Parker Junior High gym, 2810 School St.
The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s annual Halloween Happenings party is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the H-F Sports Complex, 18211 Aberdeen Ave., in Homewood.
A DJ will be leading kids in Halloween-themed games, such as the Limbo and Freeze Dance. There’s also a chance to win candy and prizes at various games, and a costume parade for participants 13 and younger is set for 7:30 p.m.
For children who want to participate but are sensitive to noise, a quiet time from 5:30 to 6 p.m. will give them a chance to enjoy the festivities.
And once the day of the Halloween pumpkin is over, join in the Chicago Southland Green Committee Pumpkin Smash on Saturday, Nov. 2. Between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., fling, hammer and destroy the pumpkin at Coyote Run Golf Course, 800 Kedzie Ave. in Flossmoor.
The Pumpkin Smash is sponsored by the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, Flossmoor and Homewood libraries, Flossmoor District 161, Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Homewood District 153, Prairie State College, and the villages of Homewood, Flossmoor, Olympia Fields and Park Forest.
