Take a Ride Down Market Street

This May, Prairie State College’s Nursing Program awarded the associate’s degree in nursing to 57 students. It is one of PSC’s largest graduating classes. 

The coronavirus pandemic did force students to finish their last semester through remote learning, not the best way to get hands-on experience. It also meant they didn’t get their RN pinning ceremony May 14, or their graduation ceremony May 16.

These graduates started toward their RN degrees months before the COVID-19 virus hit the United States. There is a fear of the unknown, and . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
