H-F community chosen to pilot plant-based nutrition course

Homewood trustees Tuesday commended both residents and police for their support of ongoing demonstrations in response to the death of George Floyd and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Floyd's death at the hands of Minneapolis police officers has sparked a national protest movement in response to police tactics. Residents in communities across the country, including in Homewood and Flossmoor, have been marching to have their voices heard.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
