H-F park board approves new equipment for club

The COVID-19 pandemic is playing havoc with plans for two highlights of summer in the H-F community. It’s taken down the Homewood 4th of July parade and organizers of the weekly Homewood Farmers’ Market are making dramatic changes to get it open on Saturday, June 13. 

In his weekly video update on Friday, May 14, Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld announced that the traditional Independence Day parade has been canceled.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
