Homewood Library features theatre troupe Oct. 5

Hundreds of protestors marched for hours through Homewood and Flossmoor in 90-degree heat on Tuesday evening to voice their dismay about recent police killings and express support for positive change. 

After assembling at Irwin Park on Ridge Road around 5 p.m., the group extemporaneously started marching shortly before 6 p.m.

Flanked by police from both villages, the throng of protestors marched in roadways and prevented the normal flow of traffic along their route.

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
